Enterprise-Grade Capabilities

Go beyond raw metric collection. Exercise application lifecycle operations, snapshot configuration, and publish executive reports — all without leaving Oracle Enterprise Manager.

Availability Monitoring with Built-in Threshold

Per-target WebSphere up/down test derived from the J2EE server State MBean, polled every minute, with a shipped critical threshold and the alert message "IBM WebSphere Application Server is currently down."

Performance Monitoring Across 10 WebSphere Subsystems

DynaCache, JDBC Provider, JSP, JVM, ORB, Servers, Servlets, Session Manager, Thread Pools, and Transaction Service — collected every 15 minutes over the JMX PerfMBean statistics hierarchy.

Ready-to-Alert Thresholds Out of the Box

Pre-set warning and critical thresholds for connection pool utilisation (80/90%), thread pool utilisation (80/90%), servlet and JSP error rate (2/5), servlet and JDBC wait time, and Server state — no tuning required to start getting actionable alerts.

Application Lifecycle Jobs, Inside OEM

Three one-click job types — Restart AppServer, Start Application, and Stop Application — dispatched over JMX with IBM WebSphere credentials, eliminating ad-hoc wsadmin scripting on the host.

13-Table Configuration Snapshot (ECM)

Daily incremental configuration capture of Applications, Cluster, DataSource, DynaCache, EJB Modules, JDBC Provider, JVM, NodeSync, ORB, Servers, Thread Pools, Transaction Service, and Web Modules — feeding OEM Configuration History, Search, and Comparison.

Broad Compatibility

Enterprise-ready support across the WebSphere versions and OEM platform your middleware team already runs.

Management Agent & Connection

Any OEM-supported Agent platform. JMX over SOAP or RMI connector URL, optional username/password auth. Remote monitoring — Agent does not need to run on the AppServer host.

How It Works

1

Install the Plug-in

Deploy the signed OPAR artifact to your OMS and Management Agents using OEM's standard plug-in deployment flow.

2

Discover & Configure Targets

Add WebSphere instances as oracle_websphere targets. Provide the JMX serviceURL and, if JMX authentication is enabled, credentials stored under the IBMWebSphereCredsMonitoring credential set.

3

Start Monitoring & Managing

Review the 24 metric groups and the daily configuration snapshot in the standard OEM target pages, and dispatch Restart AppServer, Start Application, and Stop Application jobs from the Job Activity screen.

Ready to Unify Your Middleware Monitoring?

See how the IBM WebSphere Plug-in for Oracle Enterprise Manager can consolidate WebSphere availability, JMX performance, and application-lifecycle operations into the same OEM console your Oracle DBAs already use.
